ABSTRACT

The paper articulate progress of indicator-wise achievements of targets of the MDGs in South Asian countries and finds that the countries of the region will not be able to attain all the goals and targets. We find several challenges towards attaining MDGs like nexus among growth, poverty and inequality; right balance between pragmatism and ambition in formulating development strategies; curbing all-pervasive corruption; good governance; and effective public-private partnership. Finally we suggest, among others, establishing civic network for monitoring MDGs in the region and documenting people’s collective and creative initiatives for wider replication.
