Major General Sheikh Pasha Habib Uddin, OSP, SGP, BAMS, afwc, psc is Director General and Chief Executive of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) since October 24, 2022. Major General Pasha was promoted to the rank of Major General on April 05, 2017. Prior to joining BIISS, he was the Senior Directing Staff (Army) at National Defence College, Mirpur Cantonment. Major General Pasha was born on 20th November 1967 in the district of Feni. After passing out from Faujdarhat Cadet College, he joined 16th BMA Long Course and was commissioned on 26th June 1987. He was awarded the Chancellors Award as recognition of his place in the overall merit list in Cumilla Board and was awarded the Osmani Gold Medal for best academic results at Bangladesh Military Academy. After commission, he was posted to 8 Field Regiment Artillery of the Artillery Corps of Bangladesh Army. He achieved Bachelor of Science (BSc) from Chittagong University, Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University, Masters in Defense Studies (MDS) and Masters in War Studies (MWS) from National University. He is a proud graduate of Defense Services Command and Staff College and National Defense College, Mirpur Cantonment. He has undergone survey and locating course at Nowshera, Pakistan. Major General Pasha completed the 'Civil Military Response to Terrorism' course at Naval Post Graduate School, California, USA in 2006. He has participated in the 10th SAARC Conference on Terrorism in 2012 and 'Strategic Leadership' program conducted by the UK Defense Academy in 2017. Major General Pasha in his illustrious professional career performed various important duties. He was the Defense Adviser at the Bangladesh Embassy in the UK. He has commanded 02 (two) Division Locating Batteries, 01(one) Field Regiment Artillery, 01 (one) Medium Regiment Artillery, 01(one) UN Contingent, 01 (one) BGB Battalion and 02 (two) Artillery Brigades. He Commanded Bangladesh Ansar& VDP as Director General. As a staff officer, he served in the Military Secretary’s Branch at Army Headquarters and as Colonel GS in DGFI. He was an instructor of Tactics Wing at the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet. In UN mission he successfully served as military observer in Western Sahara and as Contingent Commander of the Mechanized Infantry Contingent in Ivory Coast. He visited about 20 countries including the USA, UK, India and China for foreign courses, education and travelling. Major General Sheikh Pasha Habib Uddin and Begum Farida Yesmin are happily married and proud parents of 03 (three) daughters.
