Colonel Md Mashequr Rahman, psc is a Research Director at Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS). Colonel Masheq was a Commanding Officer of the 12th Bangladesh Infantry Regiment at Headquarters 33 Infantry Division before assuming his incumbent assignment. After passing out from Faujdarhat Cadet College, he joined Bangladesh Army with the 44th BMA Long Course and was commissioned on 17 June 2001 in the Corps of Infantry. He achieved a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from the Bangladesh Military Academy, Chittagong, Masters in Defence Studies (MDS) from Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC). He is a graduate of the Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur Cantonment. He attended the Officers Anti Armour Course at the School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T), Pakistan and the Customized Training Capsule for Mechanized Infantry (Officers and Men) at Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre, Ahmednagar, India.  In professional career, he performed various important duties. He served in six Infantry Battalions in various capacities in his last 25 years of service. His regimental appointments in various Infantry Regiments were Intelligence Officer, Support Platoon Commander, Adjutant, Quarter Master, Company Second-in-Command and Company Commander. As a staff officer he served as Brigade Major (BM) of an Infantry Brigade which is deployed in Chittagong Hill Tracts. He served as Instructor Class-B, Instructor Class-A and officer in charge of more than 20 Army level courses in Tactics Wing of the School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T) in Sylhet. In UN mission he successfully served as Platoon Commander of BANBAT-3, United Nations Mission in the South Sudan (UNMISS) and as CLO - BANBAT-6, United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central Africa (MINUSCA). The Colonel is happily married and proud father of two daughters.
