ABSTRACT

Economic diplomacy and foreign policy are interlinked concepts. While assessing the reflection of economic diplomacy in Bangladesh’s foreign policy, this paper, looking at existing literatures and analysing interview transcripts, finds that economic diplomacy of Bangladesh has scope to be adequately reflected in Bangladesh’s foreign policy. Besides negotiating quality aid, increasing foreign trade, manpower export and inflow of foreign direct investment, promoting infrastructure diplomacy, strengthening energy diplomacy, capitalising maritime diplomacy and practising effective climate diplomacy will be significant for Bangladesh’s future foreign policy directions. These will help address Bangladesh’s LDC graduation and achieve its vision 2041 goals.
