Biography

Ambassador Kazi Imtiaz Hossain is a distinguished Bangladeshi diplomat with a long and accomplished career in the Foreign Service. He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from the University of Dhaka and joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs Cadre) in 1986. Over the course of his career, he represented Bangladesh in several important postings abroad. He served as Ambassador to Thailand with concurrent accreditation to Cambodia, and later as High Commissioner to Australia, also covering New Zealand and Fiji. He further served as Ambassador to France and the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UNESCO, where he promoted Bangladesh’s diplomatic and cultural presence on the international stage.

In May 2021, Ambassador Hossain was appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS). During his tenure, he strengthened BIISS’s research and policy dialogues on strategic and security issues, including the evolving Indo-Pacific landscape.
