The Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) hosted a Country Lecture Series (CLS) on “Bangladesh–South Korea Relations: Pathways for Future Cooperation” on 28 May 2025. Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser at the Ministry of Finance, attended as the Chief Guest, while H.E. Park Young Sik, Ambassador of South Korea to Bangladesh, was the Distinguished Guest Speaker. The session was chaired by Ambassador AFM Gosal Azam Sarker, Chairman of BIISS, with a welcome address by Major General Iftekhar Anis, Director General of BIISS.
Dr. Mahfuz Kabir, Research Director at BIISS, presented insights on the multidimensional relations between Bangladesh and South Korea. The discussions highlighted shared economic interests, mutual trust, and commitments to peace and development. Participants from government bodies, academia, think tanks, business sectors, and the media contributed their perspectives, enriching the dialogue. The Chief Guest underscored the importance of maintaining and strengthening the long-standing bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Dr Mahfuz Kabir, Research Director, BIISS, delivered a presentation on “Dimensions of Bangladesh
South Korea Relations.” Thereafter, the distinguished guest speaker, H E Ambassador Park Young Sik, delivered his lecture on Bangladesh-South Korea relations and their future trajectories. Korea and
Bangladesh share a strong economic partnership that extends beyond development assistance and is grounded in robust bilateral trade and foreign direct investment. He emphasised the common values shared between the two nations, which are rooted in mutual trust and a commitment to global peace.
Senior officials from different ministries, relevant government organisations, representatives from different think tanks, academicians, businessmen, serving and retired military officials, media,
and students from various universities actively participated in the country lecture and enriched it by presenting their valuable opinions, comments, suggestions, and observations during the open discussion session.
