Segufta Hossain is a Research Director at Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS). She joined BIISS on 1st September 2004. Her areas of interest are Environment and Environmental Security, Environment and Security Nexus, Environmental Changes and its Impacts on Human Security, Climate Change and Strategic Issues. Segufta Hossain has done her PhD in Geography and Environment from Jahnagirnagar University, Bangladesh. She did her M. Sc. and B. Sc. from the Department of Geography and Environment, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh.

Visited Pakistan as a member of the delegation from Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) upon the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan, conducted by Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad (ISSI), Islamabad, Pakistan from May 25-June 03, 2006 and interacted with academicians and scholars of different Academic Institutions, Civil Society Groups and Media on various topics related with security, politics, socio-economic conditions of  Pakistan and South Asia.
  20. Completed a one week Training Programme on “Environment and Environmental Laws” held at Dhaka during December 18-23, 2004 organized by Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) in collaboration with Ministry of Environment & Forest and UNDP, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
