MRM 22 September 2025- A S M Tarek Hassan Semul & Md. Nahiyan Shajid Khan
This Monthly Research Meeting brings together two BIISS researchers to present fresh analysis on strategic and economic issues relevant to Bangladesh. The session is structured to combine concise briefings with an extended discussion segment so that participants can test assumptions, challenge methods, and translate findings into practical options. The first presentation reviews the regional security environment with emphasis on risk transmission channels that affect trade, energy supply, and maritime stability. It maps recent developments, identifies leading indicators to watch, and proposes a tiered response matrix for government and industry stakeholders. The second presentation focuses on economic resilience and policy coordination. It surveys fiscal and monetary trends, outlines exposure to external shocks, and offers instrument level ideas that align domestic constraints with feasible reforms. Both speakers share a commitment to evidence led policy design and present data in accessible formats using clear metrics, baselines, and scenarios. The meeting also explores cooperation opportunities with partners in South Asia and the Indo Pacific, highlighting areas where technical collaboration can raise returns on limited resources. Participants are invited to share operational experience from public administration, academia, and the private sector to refine the recommendations. By the end of the discussion, attendees leave with a short list of actionable steps, a reading pack, and an outline for follow up workstreams that can inform future seminars and policy notes at BIISS.
