Bangladesh Perspective” on 02 July 2026
The Bangladesh Institute of
International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) organized a Roundtable Discussion
on “Diplomacy and Negotiation in International Relations: Bangladesh
Perspective” at BIISS Auditorium on Thursday, 02 July 2026.
The roundtable brought together
diplomats, academics, policymakers, researchers, members of the armed forces,
government officials, and representatives from think tanks to deliberate on the
evolving dynamics of diplomacy and negotiation in the contemporary
international system and their implications for Bangladesh.
The discussion focused on the
changing global geopolitical landscape, emerging regional and international
security challenges, Bangladesh’s foreign policy priorities, and the growing
importance of effective negotiation in safeguarding national interests.
Participants also highlighted the role of economic diplomacy, multilateral
engagement, confidence-building measures, and strategic communication in
enhancing Bangladesh’s position in regional and global affairs.
During the interactive session,
distinguished speakers shared their perspectives on strengthening Bangladesh’s
diplomatic capacity, developing negotiation skills, and fostering greater
collaboration among government institutions, academia, and policy research
organizations. They emphasized the need for evidence-based policymaking and
strategic foresight to enable Bangladesh to respond effectively to an
increasingly complex international environment.
The event concluded with an
engaging question-and-answer session, during which participants exchanged views
on contemporary diplomatic challenges and explored practical approaches to
enhancing Bangladesh’s effectiveness in international negotiations. The
recommendations emerging from the roundtable are expected to contribute to
future policy discussions and research initiatives on diplomacy and
international relations.
