Abstract
This roundtable examined Bangladesh’s potential participation in BRICS and other regional or international organizations as part of its pursuit of strategic autonomy. Discussions focused on opportunities in finance, trade, and technology cooperation, as well as risks of overextension and geopolitical entanglement. Experts noted that BRICS membership could provide access to alternative financing, South-South collaboration, and global visibility. However, concerns included aligning with diverse interests, managing expectations, and maintaining neutrality in rivalries. The debate underscored that strategic autonomy requires careful calibration of commitments and benefits.
