The Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) hosted a high-level seminar titled “Bangladesh–US Tariff Deal: How to Optimise Trade Benefit” on 24 September 2025 at the BIISS Auditorium, Dhaka.
The event brought together senior policymakers, diplomats, economists, researchers, and business leaders to discuss the implications of the newly negotiated US reciprocal tariff arrangement for Bangladesh. The sessions explored how Bangladesh could mitigate risks and harness new opportunities in a rapidly changing global trade environment marked by US protectionism and evolving supply chains.
Speakers included Dr. Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser; Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce; and leading experts from BIISS, academia, and the BGMEA. The seminar underscored the importance of strategic negotiation, economic diversification, compliance, and forward-looking diplomacy to secure Bangladesh’s long-term trade interests.
